Today I am grateful for community . . .

Since I have been working in Tucson for the past couple of years, I consider it my second home.  So when Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and 16 others were shot there over the weekend, I was really shaken.  I mourn the 6 people who died - U.S. District Judge John McCarthy Roll, Gabriel Zimmerman, Christina Taylor Green, Dorwin Stoddard, Dorthy Morris, and Phyllis Scheck - and I pray for the survivors, the families of all the victims, the family of the suspect and everyone else who has been affected by the tragedy.  Like many others across the country, I celebrate every improvement in Congresswoman Giffords' condition.  But the one thing that has really touched me is how the entire community of Tucson (and to some extent the community of the whole country) has mostly banded together and shown that even during times of unimaginable grief, our collective spirit can not be broken.  There are a lot of things wrong with this country, but I am thankful to be reminded of some of the many things that are right about it.
